Look. They told us we have to say this. We are not saying who they are. We are not saying they are watching. We are saying we have to tell you. So here it is, in our most official voice.
The plain, legally binding version follows. It is boring on purpose.
First, the thing they made us say: this is fiction
The Obsidian Registry publishes works of fiction. Each file combines a fictional narrative with references to real, documented historical events, publications, institutions, and public records. Real facts are marked with numbered citations and listed under "Sources" at the end of each file. Everything else, including all characters, private individuals, dialogue, recovered documents, devices, objects, rituals, and outcomes, is invented. Any resemblance of fictional characters to actual persons, living or dead, is coincidental.
The facts are real, though. That is the part nobody asked us to disclaim.
About the real names (please do not sue us)
Where real public figures, agencies, companies, or institutions are named, they appear only in connection with publicly documented facts, which are cited. The fictional events surrounding them did not occur, and no file states or implies that any real living person committed any act not established in the public record. Nothing on this site is affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any person, agency, museum, company, or organization named in it.
No, you will not gain powers
No file claims that any supernatural, paranormal, or extraterrestrial event actually happened. Purchasing access to the Archive provides entertainment. It does not provide secret knowledge, special abilities, financial results, spiritual outcomes, or any other result in the reader's life.
We checked. We tried several of them. Nothing. Not even a little.
Do not try this at home. Or anywhere.
Nothing on this site is medical, nutritional, psychological, legal, financial, investment, or safety advice. Files in Volume V discuss food, chemicals, and public health using cited sources; they are not a substitute for a qualified professional. Do not change your diet, medical care, or any treatment based on anything here. Do not attempt any ritual, excavation, hypnosis technique, chemical process, or activity described in any file. Several are dangerous, illegal, or both.
About the strange objects in the Market
Items in The Exchange section of the Market are ordinary, legal, commercially available products sold by independent third-party sellers on Amazon.com. The Obsidian Registry does not sell, ship, inspect, warrant, or support these products, is not affiliated with or endorsed by Amazon or any seller, and earns no commission or payment from them. The names, descriptions, "valuations," and file connections shown for each listing are fiction written for entertainment and are not product claims; refer to the seller's listing for accurate details, price, and safety information. Listings may change or disappear at any time.
If we got a fact wrong
We work to cite real facts accurately and correct errors when found. Sources and interpretations can change. Citations are provided so readers can verify them independently. If you find an error, please tell us through the contact page.
Adults only, obviously
The Archive is intended for adults 18 and older and contains disturbing themes. See Content Warnings.
Seriously, though
If anything you read brings up thoughts of harming yourself, please stop and reach out. In the U.S., call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). Elsewhere, contact your local emergency number or crisis line.
